HPLC purity commonly reports the relative area of a target peak under defined analytical conditions. Its meaning depends on the method and the substances detected. It does not automatically describe the fraction of the entire vial that consists of the desired peptide.
Why gross powder weight differs
Water, counterions, excipients and other material can contribute to the weight placed in a vial. Net peptide content and chromatographic purity may need separate consideration when interpreting an analytical report. Ask the supplier to explain the applicable calculation rather than multiplying percentages whose definitions are unknown.
