Use the batch instructions
Different peptide sequences and formulations have different stability needs. The word lyophilized does not establish a particular storage temperature or expiry period. Ask for the recommended conditions before the shipment arrives so that receiving staff can move the material into suitable storage without delay.
Control moisture during handling
Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Moisture exposure can reduce stability; handling a cold container in warm humid air can introduce condensation. Follow the documented equilibration and opening procedure for the material and record any excursion that may affect its condition.
Plan practical aliquots
Choose pack sizes that fit your actual evaluation or production workflow. Repeatedly opening one large container may create a different exposure pattern from using smaller sealed packs. Discuss the cost, analytical consistency and waste implications before selecting a bulk pack solely because its price per gram is lower.
Keep a usable storage record
Record receipt date, lot, expiry or retest date, storage location and significant handling events. If the container is damaged or storage history is uncertain, contact the supplier before use. An intact-looking powder is not evidence that every storage requirement has been met.
